Climate Resilient Crop Production- SRI

Pragati, Koraput has introduced System of Rice Intensification (SRI) to promote climate resilient crop production in its action areas of Koraput District with the aim to enhance productivity, sustainability and environmental protection. The farmers are cultivating wide range of traditional varieties like Kalajeera, Batkichudi, Basantichudi, Basubhog, Haladichudi, Machhakanta, Lalbalsa and Alasiphulo using organic practices to promote conservation of indeginous seeds and adopting stress tolerant varieties to adapt climate change effects. The adoption of SRI enables less inputs, higher yields and income enhancement of the small and marginal farmers.
